Burns Statue Brisbane
Ward Willis (1870-1948) executed the fine bronze statue of Burns which was eventually erected in Centenary Place, Brisbane in 1932.
It was the culmination of a long campaign by the local Scottish community which had hoped to erect the statue in 1929. Shortage of funds almost aborted the project, but it was then that the City of Brisbane and the Queensland Government came to the rescue and provided the balance required.
